This art piece is an ink painting mandala of the Svadhisthana Chakra.
Using fine japanese brushes, combined with high quality inks on water colour paper I create this artwork with vibrant colours and gold.
Before starting each piece I connect to the energy of chakra within, and create from this space.
Svadhisthana is a Sanskrit word that literally translates into ’one’s own abode’ the root ‘svad’ also has another meaning, it translates into ‘to taste with pleasure’, ‘to enjoy’ or ‘take delight’. It is rooted in the element of water. In Western culture, the Svadhisthana is known as the second chakra, or sacral chakra. The Svadhisthana holds your connection to your emotions, desire and sexuality.
The Svadhisthana flows with your deepest needs and desires.
It radiates a radiant orange color. It is this energy that helps you to move in the world, it is this movement, movement of thoughts, emotions and your physical body, that fuels your ability to balance, renew and produce anything in your life. It governs your sexuality and ability to bring balance to the polarities that exist in your life. It is the source of balance between the feminine and the masculine, spirit and matter, light and darkness and self and other.
The Svadhisthana is shown with six petals, that unfold from within a circle. The petals of the chakras represent the unfoldment of primal sound through the fifty letters of the Sanskrit alphabet. The six petals of the Svadhisthana represent six syllables of Sanskrit; बं baṃ, भं bhaṃ, मं maṃ, यं yaṃ, रं raṃ and लं laṃ.
There are two circles in the center of this chakra, and the shape of a crescent moon.
Both the circles and the crescent connect this chakra to the lunar qualities of the moon. These circles are white, shining and watery and represent the divine movement of emotion that emanates from the center of this chakra centre.
